Produce at Trader Joe’s

When trying to find inexpensive produce, an organic grocery store likely wouldn’t be the first place most people would go. Trader Joe’s proves that notion totally wrong – they have some of the freshest and most inexpensive produce around. My favorite Trader Joe’s produce, however, would have to be their pre-prepared fruits and vegetables.

For anyone who has ever cut a sweet potato, you are well aware that this not an easy task. While roasted veggies make a great dinner, they certainly don’t make a quick dinner. Trader Joe’s is here to solve that problem. For only $5.99, you can get a 2 pound bag of peeled and cubed sweet potatoes. These sweet potatoes can be pureed, mashed, or simply roasted. If you’re looking for inspiration as to how to use these sweet potatoes, here’s a link to one of my favorite recipes involving roasted sweet potatoes. http://www.ahintofhoney.com/2013/11/farro-with-roasted-sweet-potato-kale-pomegranate-seeds/

Trader Joe’s also has a great selection of fruit. From sliced apples to pre-cut pineapple, Trader Joe’s is there for all of your fresh fruit needs. One item that always seems to find its way into my grocery cart is the pre-sliced mango. Mangoes make a huge mess when trying to cut them and trying to find one that is perfectly ripe is never easy. The sliced mangos at Trader Joe’s are the perfect solution. They can be eaten on their own or added to a smoothie or salad.
